“Hey, you,” I said, trying to be sweet.

“Hey,” he said, not sounding particularly warm. “I just landed in Chicago. What’s up?” I could tell by his tone that he clearly wanted me to get to the point.

“Is there anyone else around you?”

“Nobody close enough to hear what I’m talking about.”

“Jack, I’m pregnant.” I just said it, getting it over with. It fell like a rock. I couldn’t hear anything on the other end, just silence. After a few seconds I even checked my phone to make sure the call didn’t disconnect. “Jack?”

“Are you at home?” he finally said.

  “Yes.”

  “I’m coming right now.”

Senator Jack Ramsey was at my door within the hour. I had a feeling that by saying those words, I- or we- had just become the most important thing in his life. I answered the door and before saying anything, he scooped me into his arms and kissed me. He held me close to him for several seconds.

“I love you, Gavin,” he said. “I think it took this happening for me to grow a pair of balls, but I love you. I cancelled all my events for the weekend, and I’m not going anywhere.”

“What about the campaign?” I blurted out.

“Fuck the campaign,” he said. “I love you.” He rubbed my stomach.

“I love you too, Jack,” I said. He smiled and we kissed again.

Before I knew it, we were in the bedroom, my shirt was off, and Jack was grinding on me on my bed. Our lips were locked in a dance, and there was an intensity burning inside me I had never felt before- not even with him. My body ached for him.

He opened up his shirt and I kissed him all over- his chest, nipples, abs- he had the perfect shredded alpha body. He rolled over and pulled me on top of him and began to undo his belt.

“Suck my cock,” he said as he pushed my head down.

  “Gladly,” I replied.

I took his juicy cock into my mouth and sucked it from the base to the shaft several times, getting Jack hard as a rock. I tasted his precum flowing. I wonder if that’s what got me pregnant, I thought briefly. But I didn’t care anymore, at least not right now.

He flipped me over again, pushing my back against the bed, and pulled my pants off with all the strength of his arms. He slipped himself inside me, no condom, since we didn’t have to worry about that anymore. He kissed me as he thrusted himself inside me softly while rubbing my belly.

“I love you,” he repeated. “And you,” he said, kissing my stomach.

“I love you too. I fucking love you, Jack Ramsey,” I said.

Jack’s thrusts became harder and more forceful. His masculine moans filled the room. I stroked my cock and knew I was nearing orgasm both in my cock and in my ass.

“I want your load,” I told him, now without fear of repercussions.

“It’s yours,” he said, smiling and biting his lip. He kissed me again and again.

With one final thrust, Jack exploded inside me. My entire body tensed up as my ass received his load and sucked it up, my own cock exploding at the same time. It was a beautiful, magical moment.

“You’re so sexy,” I told him, watching him clean himself up. He was still completely naked.

“Thanks,” he said. “So are you.”

He came back to the bed, kissed me, and curled up beside me. I was over the moon, but also knew it was time for a practical conversation.

“What happens now?” I asked. Jack rolled over on his back, exhaling out a deep sigh.

“I told Liz, my campaign manager everything. She’s working on an unveiling strategy. I made it clear to her that I want you in my life, and I’m not trying to hide it anymore.”

  “Thats…amazing,” I said. I didn’t have any other words.

“Anything for you,” he said, rubbing his fingers softly against my cheek.

“Do you think it’ll have a negative impact on your campaign?”

“You know, that’s really the least of my worries. If it does, it does. At least I’m here with you.”

“Yeah,” I said. Indeed, he was here with me.

For a while, things died down. I kept up a steady stream of campaign events as election night crawled closer, while at the same time spending as much time with Gavin as I possibly could. He- and my child- were now the most important things in my life, and I was determined to be there for them. I let Liz know as much.

“Okay,” she said reluctantly when I broke the news to her. “I get it. Just know that we don’t know what could happen with this. I still think you should keep it secret until after the election.”

  “I’ll try,” I told her.

Gavin agreed. It was probably best to keep him out of the spotlight while he was pregnant anyway. For the most part, things returned to normal for a few weeks- as normal as they possibly could be. One weekend I even brought Gavin to Washington with me.

“I can’t believe this is your life,” he said was we snuck into the senate offices in the middle of the night.

“It’s not that glamorous,” I replied. “It’s not nearly what you think.”

“What I see is a sexy man in front of me- one of the most powerful men in the country, and by extension the world- and he’s about to fuck me right here on this desk,” he said, biting his lip.

“I can’t say no to that.”

Gavin got down on his knees and sucked my cock. I picked him up, him straddling me completely, before setting him down on the desk and inserting myself inside him. I kissed him passionately, feeling my body against his, our child inside him. This is what I want, I realized.

I’d spent so much of my life trying to build a career. Trying to get elected. Trying to get re-elected. Cozying up to lobbyists I didn’t care about while trying to placate my constituents back home. I did it to please my family, and because I thought it was what I wanted. But this was what I wanted- my own family, with the man I loved, and a normal life.

A few weeks out from the election, I was awakened by my cell phone earlier than I expected. I knew it was Liz on the other end. Nobody else would have been calling me that early in the morning.

“It must be serious,” I answered.

“Take a look at the national post website,” she said. So I did. My mouth hung open for several seconds when I saw the headline. “Jack?”

  “Oh fuck,” I said.

  “Yeah.” She was surprisingly calm.

The headline read SENATOR HIDING SECRET BABY.

“What are we gonna do?” I asked.

“There’s only one thing to do, Jack. If you still want a shot at this, you know what it is.”

I hung up the phone. I knew what she was talking about. For now, though, I only had one thing on my mind. My hand shook as I dialed Gavin. I knew he was probably up, getting ready for the kids to come. Suddenly, my phone buzzed again. He was calling me first. Shit, I thought. I knew this was getting bad.

  “Hey,” I said.

“Jack, there’s reporters at my house. What the fuck do I do?”

“Did you, uh, maybe let it slip that you were pregnant with my baby?” I asked in the least accusatory tone possible.

“I told Christina. That’s it. And she has no idea it’s you. I don’t think she even follows politics at all. There’s no way she would have said anything, either.”

I was quiet for a moment, wondering how anyone could have possibly figured this out. Unless….

“Gavin…did you maybe leave a pregnancy test lying around anywhere?”

“I threw it away,” he said.

“You have curbside trash pickup, don’t you?”

“Once a week,” he confirmed. Fuck. Whoever had been following us was good.

“Gavin, the media knows about you. It’s not your fault, but I think…I think someone went through your trash and found the test.”

There was silence on the other end. I was tearing up, and my heart was pounding harder than I’d ever felt. I couldn
t believe this was happening. Who’s fucking business was it? Who would do a thing like go through an innocent man’s trash? It came with the territory, though. It sucked, but that was the reality.

“I’m sorry, Jack,” Gavin finally said. He was crying.

“No. You have nothing at all to be sorry for. If anything, I’m sorry for putting you through this. I never wanted this to happen- I only wanted you. I…I’m gonna take care of this. Hang tight.”

“What do I do about the reporters?” he asked. Fuck.

“Don’t talk to them. Don’t say anything- not yet. Avoid even opening the door.”

“Okay,” he said. His voice still quivered. “I guess I’ll have the parents take the kids to Christina’s this morning. I’ll wait them out.”

“Gavin, I’m so, so sorry for putting you through this. I love you so much. I’m going to take care of you. Both of you. I promise.”

  “I love you too, Jack.”

Later that day, Jack sent a car to get me. He flew to Chicago and I met him at his spare apartment- the one with basic, minimalist furniture that we hooked up in the first night I met him. I waited inside for him, having been let in by the driver of the car, for about an hour until he finally opened the door.

The instant I saw him, I ran into his arms. He wrapped them around me tightly, and I buried my head in his chest. We stood like that for what felt like an eternity. I didn’t want him to let go of me.

“This brings back memories,” I joked, wiping a tear from my eye when he finally loosened his grip.

“Yeah,” he said, cracking a painful smile himself.

Jack took my hand and we sat down on the couch. He looked me in the eye and carefully explained what was about to happen. He wanted to do what was best for us- but he wanted to continue the campaign. That was going to involve going public with our relationship and our new family.

“I know it’s scary,” he said.

“It is. Does that mean there’s going to be reporters around my house all the time? I’m going to lose my business, Jack,” I said. My mind was going a million miles a minute.

Jack looked down, pausing intentionally. He took my hand again and looked me in the eye.

“Once we go public, the pressure on you won’t be as intense. But yes, the parents of the kids you care for will probably have to make other arrangements. Your life is going to change, Gavin.” He took a deep breath before continuing, and squeezed my hand harder than ever. “I want you to know that we don’t have to do this. If it’s not what you want, I’ll drop out, and this ends now. I’m with you either way. But if we do this, I promise you with every muscle in my body that I’m going to take care of you. Of us.”

I stared at Jack in his beautiful, brown eyes. Deep down, I trusted him. My life was about to change, though. He was asking me to give up everything to join him. Who was I to deny him his goals? His ambition? I wanted a future with him and knew I couldn’t hold him back. At the same time, I was going to have to leave behind my low-key life and the business I’d built for myself. I would forever in the future be Mr. Jack Ramsey. That has a nice ring to it, I thought.

“Are you with me?” Jack asked. I realized I hadn’t said anything for a while. I took a deep breath.

“Yes,” I said. “I will always be with you, Jack.”

  “Hell yes.”

We both stood up and embraced. I wasn’t prepared for what was happened next, though. As soon as our hug ended, Jack was lowering himself. He was getting down on one knee. Oh shit. My own knees nearly buckled, and if I hadn’t still been holding his hand, I might have fallen to the floor. He pulled out a simple but elegant ring from his coat pocket.

“Gavin, will you marry me?” he asked.

“Yes,” I replied without hesitation. “Fuck yes.”

Jack slipped the ring on my finger, smiled, and stood up, kissing me while holding me tightly. I knew in that moment that I’d made the right decision. This was my future now. It was with Senator Jack Ramsey. For all I knew, I could be the First Gentleman one day.

Behind the stage I stood with Liz and Gavin, among some of my other staffers. Both of them looked nervous. There was a sizable crowd waiting outside. All they knew was that I was making a big announcement- and a big announcement this close to election day was guaranteed to draw crowds.

  “Are you ready?” Liz asked.

“I’m nervous, but I’m as ready as ever,” I said.

“Jack Ramsey? Nervous for a campaign event?”

“I’m not nervous about speaking,” I clarified. “I’m just nervous about how they’ll take the news. How it’ll be perceived in the media.”

  “Me too,” Liz admitted.

“Are you ready?” I asked Gavin. He appeared to be even more nervous than either of us, and understandably so.

“You promise it’ll be okay?” he asked.

“All you have to do is come on stage when I introduce you. Just be there, hold my hand. You won’t say anything.”

  “Okay,” he said.

“Ive got you. You’re gonna do great,” I said, hugging him.

“Alright, I’m going on,” Liz said. She got on stage and the crowd started cheering.

“See, they’re friendly,” I teased Gavin. He just nodded. I held him while Liz spoke, but soon she introduced me. It was time for me to go on stage.

I ran out to a loud round of applause. There were thousands of supporters here to see me- and whatever big announcement I had in store. I always fed off the energy of the crowds I spoke to, and began to get excited. I couldn’t wait to introduce my real life instead of continuing to hide from it. Liz handed me the microphone and I began to speak.

“Hello Chicago! You know, I got my political start right here in Chicago on the city council, and I’ve been grateful for your support ever since. And I’m looking forward to your support at the polls, just a couple weeks from now!”

The crowd cheered and applauded, and I continued.

“I came here today to make an announcement. And while this election- and the future of our country- are incredibly important, and I believe I can best represent the ideals and values of the great state of Illinois in the United States Senate- the announcement I have to make today isn’t about any of that. Instead, it’s about me.

“Often times in politics, people like me get sucked into the mud. We become politicians first and human beings second. But, you know, I’ve been thinking lately- I’m just as normal as you all. Just like you, I have a job and a personal life. And I decided it’s time for you all to get to know the real me just a little bit better.

“Many of you have seen the recent headlines about me. Some in the media want to see this portrayed as a scandal. I’m going to tell you the truth, though. There’s no scandal. Several months ago, around the time I decided I’d be running for re-election, I met someone. And this someone made me very happy. Incredibly happy. I think many of you can relate to that.”

“Well, I’ve gotten to know this someone more and more over the time we’ve spent together. I’ve fallen in love with him. And I figured it’s about time that I shared this part of my life with you. It’s time for you all to meet. I want to introduce my fiancé, the future Mr. Ramsey- Gavin Davis!”

Gavin casually ran on stage, hugged me, and kissed me just as we planned. The crowd applauded and cheered raucously. It was one of the most nerve-inducing speeches I ever had to make, but I was surprised by how supportive everyone was.

“Together- me, Gavin, and all of you, we’re going to win this election. Thank you Chicago! Thank you Illinois!”

Even more applause and cheering erupted as Gavin and I walked off stage. Liz was waiting for us, smiling. She hugged both of us as we came down the stairs and out of view of the masses, now repeatedly chanting my name- Ram-sey, Ramsey, Ramsey!

“I love you,” I told Gavin.

  “I love you too.”

  We wa
lked to the car, hand in hand. My chest felt like a boulder had been lifted off of it. We were marching toward a future that looked brighter than ever, and I was so excited to finally have someone to share it with.

Over the next month or so, I began to get used to the public life that came with the ring that was now on my finger. I traveled back and forth with Jack from Washington to Chicago and throughout Illinois, appearing at events with him and even doing some on my own. I got to know Liz and his staffers, and the two of us became closer than ever.

What was a surprise to everyone was just how well the public took his announcement- the announcement that I, and the baby, indeed existed. He played it off well, and his polling numbers actually went up.

“I could have never predicted this, but I don’t think we could have asked for anything better,” Liz said.

We were all gathered together in a room in his D.C. townhouse watching the election results. Jack held my hand as we awaited the results. As soon as the polls closed in Illinois, we had our answer.

“The Post News projects that Senator Jack Ramsey has been re-elected in Illinois,” the anchor stated emphatically.

Everyone jumped up, and there were high-fives, hugs, and cheers around the room. As the results trickled in, it became clear that the margins of victory were even more than Jack’s first election. He was a popular guy, and the state of Illinois shared the same opinion of him I had- we all loved him very, very much.

As the evening watch party wound down and people said their goodbyes, Jack and I snuck up to his bedroom. He pulled me to him and we kissed ferociously. His lips were as sweet and tender as ever.

“Can I tell you a secret?” he whispered in my ear.
